“Death, taxes and childbirth! There’s never any convenient time for any of them.” -Margaret Mitchell-
Now that many of us have fulfilled our tax obligation for 2018 and filed our 1040, it is time to turn our attention to 2019 – the regulation, brackets, and parameters that will determine how much we will contribute to the public treasury and how much we will get to keep.
Below you will find a 2019 Quick Reference Guide, highlighting some of the most relevant aspects of our tax code. As you will notice, some brackets and contribution limits have been increased for inflation, but the structure remains largely unchanged. Twenty-three provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) most relevant to individual income taxes will not expire until December 31, 2025.
Although few people will ever list taxes as their favorite subject, the United States Tax Code is a system with far-reaching implications for our economy and society. If you have any questions, please let us know. As always, we will be happy to help you analyze your financial situation form a tax perspective. Our objective is to always help our clients achieve greater tax efficiency.
