One Step Ahead – Account Security
“Passwords are like toothbrushes. They are best when new and should never be shared.”
Keeping your information secure from criminals is a top priority for our firm. To better protect you and your accounts from cyber security threats, we continuously review security procedures to ensure that we are following best practices recommended by the custodians, financial institutions, and industry experts with whom we work.
While we feel we are taking clear and actionable steps in our own firm’s security measures, cyber fraud continues to escalate, is becoming more sophisticated, and is ever changing. These threats take various forms, including email scams (e.g. phishing), where criminals obtain investors’ identity and use that information to commit various forms of wire fraud. “Death, taxes and childbirth! There’s never any convenient time for any of them.” -Margaret Mitchell-

Twenty-three provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) most relevant to individual income taxes will not expire until December 31, 2025.

Principles of Investing
“But investing isn’t about beating other at their game. It’s about controlling yourself at your own game.”
-Benjamin Graham-

For example, investors should know the importance of managing risk, rebalancing to maintain appropriate risk levels, and the power of reinvesting and compounding.
Similarly, investors should know the dangers of market timing and the affects of inflation. Many investors have learned the hard way that what they didn’t know ultimately hurt them.

Investing in a Rising-Interest-Rate Environment
“It all comes down to interest rates. As an investor, all you’re doing it putting up a lump-sump payment for a future cash flow.” -Ray Dalio-
Since its inception in 1913, the Federal Reserve has had a significant influence on investor psyche and investment results. Through various tactics, known as monetary policy, the Fed attempts to moderate economic fluctuations. When interest rates are low, expectations of outsized investment returns dominate the markets. As rates begin to rise, fear of lower returns permeates investor sentiment.
As interest rates rise and fall, investors have been forced to adjust their expectations. In so doing, the market has remained remarkably resilient.
